Suitability of Warren Evans wooden bed frames
I understand a divan is usually better than a frame with slats. The problem is I would like something relatively low, to fit better in an attic conversion (even though I realise the mattresses are quite big). I also find divans in general a little ugly.Warren Evans give the following description of their bed frames:”All our bed frames – except Divans – have a flat, slatted base. A slatted base allows your mattress to breathe, keeping you cooler, your mattress healthier and reduces allergens such as dust mites. Each slat is made from solid pine. The slats are spaced approximately 1.5 – 2 inches apart, they are 5.5” wide and there are 10 slats on each bed frame. The slats on 2’6 to 5’0 size frames are ¾” deep. Super king sizes – 5’6 and 6’0 frames – are 1.5” deep. Due to the substantial width and depth of our slats, a centre support is not needed.”Do they sound like they would be suitable for your mattresses?Thank you.

Thank you for your enquiry.
All of our pocket sprung mattresses, such as our Origin and Artisan ranges can be used on a slatted base. Our foam based mattresses, such as our Hybrid and Fusion ranges can not.
Having said that, we would advocate placing a barrier, either a thick blanket or old duvet, between the mattress and the slats. This will prevent the ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats. Using the blanket of duvet will still allow the mattress to breathe. We recommend that you turn and rotate alternately every month for the first twelve months and regularly thereafter.
