The Emma Mattress

lyndonp asked

Hi,

Please, can you give me your view on the Emma mattress that I have seen advertised? I am in desperate need of a new mattress, I am 14st 2lb, and my wife is 9st 5lb, and I have fibromyalgia. I have seen a few mattresses that I like on your site, but the one only has a 3-year guarantee, whilst the others are in the £1100 range. The most that I can afford is between £600-£800 but I need a good guarantee, what would you recommend. Any help really appreciated

Hi lyndonp,

Thanks for your question.

With the Emma mattress, it has springs inside with foam in the construction. It’s marketed as cold foam, which seems to be in line with our own Hybrid range. The Hybrid range gives a similar sink in sensation to Memory Foam but as it doesn’t rely on the heat in order to adapt to your body it is much cooler.

With Fibromyalgia we would advise that you need something soft in order to relieve pressure and aches and pains. You would also need some support so I’d recommend having a look at our Artisan Luxury – This is a traditional pocket sprung mattress constructed using natural fillings giving a cool sleep surface. At your body weights, we would match you both with a Medium spring but you are borderline so could choose a Soft spring for something with a bit more give.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

However, given your budget, the only one I’d be comfortable recommending is the Origins Comfort 1000. This has a Medium spring tension as standard with a soft top layer allowing that pressure relief. The guarantee on this model is 2 years as standard but with correct care and maintenance and regular flipping, there is nothing to say it won’t last even longer.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you have any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact us on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
