tossing and turning + sore hips when sleeping on my side
We have a double bed – with wooden slats.
I am 8st 3, my husband is 9st 7 – when sleeping on my side, my hips get very uncomfortable.
My husband sleeps much better than me, I tend to toss and turn quite a bit.
We slept on a memory foam mattress on holiday – my husband got too hot and felt restricted when he sunk in.
I just want to get a good nights sleep!
We do not have a large budget… what do you recommend please?
Hi Lynn,
You are both below 10st, which is the level at which we would recommend opting for a medium spring tension/feel mattress and so for you both a soft tension/feel mattress is more appropriate, particularly as it will be going on a slatted base.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
We would recommend placing some form of barrier, usually in the form of thin (3-5mm) MDF over the slats to provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit and prevent ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats.
Please view the Origins Comfort 1000, which has soft comfort layers combined with a spring unit more suited to people of a lighter weight and is priced at £485.00 (SEPT 2018) for the double size required.
I trust that this helps, but if you require any further assistance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards Gary
