Tucking in sheets

David asked
8th December 2016

Looking without much hope for a decent lightweight mattress for our kingsize bed, as we are getting older it’s more difficult to tuck in that bottom sheet properly. I wondered if the sheet can be tucked around the top layer rather than needing to be around the whole mattress.

Hi David,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately, quality mattresses are quite deep due to the layers of upholstery contained therein and as a consequence, are quite heavy. Your reference to the top layer, we think refers to what is known as a pillow top mattress, which we neither make nor recommend. One solution to your problem may be to buy extra deep fitted sheets which have an elasticated bottom edge, which fits under the mattress and because it is elasticated, less effort is required to get this under the mattress.

Please bear in mind our comments regarding quality mattresses depths, as thinner mattresses may be lighter as a result of the reduced fillings and therefore are likely to need replacing in the short term rather than lasting a minimum of eight years.

We hope this helps, but if you require any further advice, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards.
