Type of bed base for pocket sprung mattress

Linda Halliwell asked

I am looking for a small double pocket sprung mattress but don’t want the bed too high in the area I’m putting it. Do you have to have an actual bed base? Is it just for height or does the mattress work better with a divan type base etc?

Hi Linda,

All of our products are usually paired with a divan base but can be used with a bedstead or slatted base. The Origins range are paired with a platform topped base whereas the Artisan range is paired with a firm edge sprung base. Either of these bases can be made to reduced sizes in terms of height, although you would need to discuss this with our office prior to placing an order.

Alternatively, if you did wish to purchase a bed frame or bedstead, if either has slatted support, you should look to place some form of barrier in the form of thin (3-5mm) MDF over the slats to prevent any ridging occurring as a result of the product dipping into the gaps.

I trust that this helps, but if you require any further clarification, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 .

Kind regards
