Type of mattress I need

The best mattress for you is dependent on your needs as comfort is very personal.

You are correct in the fact that natural fillings are generally considered to be the better option as not only do they have longer lifespans than synthetic fibres they also provide a cool sleep surface.

I’d advise to have a look at our Artisan range of mattresses. This is a range of traditional pocket sprung mattresses but with those natural fillings.

At your body weights you could possibly need a dual spring tension – One half Soft for you and one half Medium for your husband. Alternatively, if you yourself would like a bit more support then you could choose the Medium spring for yourself and have the Medium tension overall.

The top upholstery of each mattress doesn’t change regardless of spring tension so you would need to compromise somewhere. I’d advise to have a look at either our Artisan 1500 or Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000. Both are classed as medium models in that top layer but more medium to firm. The Artisan Bespoke is our firmest mattress in that top layer but I don’t think that will be suitable for you if you prefer a more medium to firm feel.
