Weight difference

Tina McDermott asked 1st September 2018

Hi, I weigh 13 stone @ 5ft 6 & my husband 20 stone is 6ft 7. We have tried 3 Emma mattresses & about to return the third & ask for a refund as a ridge forms in the middle & a dip on my husbands side.
Could you recommend a mattress please? He is a side/back sleeper & I am a side/front sleeper. Thankyou
Tina

Hi Tina,

Thank you for your enquiry on our website.  With the body weights you have supplied, you would be paired with a  medium spring tension whilst your husband requires a firm spring to give you both the correct level of support.  This is achievable with either a dual spring one piece mattress or the zip and link option.  Both options are available in King Size and above and can only be done in our Pocket Sprung ranges (Origins and Artisan).  Zip and Link’s are ideal where access into the room of your choice is restricted and where one user tends to disturb the other.

As side sleepers, we wouldn’t recommend anything too firm in the upholstery (also known as the comfort layers) as this can cause pressure pains in the shoulders, hips and knees.  In our Origins range, I would recommend you look at the Origins Pocket 1500/2000.  This is a good all round overall medium feel mattress.  In our Artisan range, I would recommend either the Artisan Naturals, which is constructed with 85 % natural fibres or the Artisan Bespoke 004 which is constructed with 100 % natural fibres.  If you are a hot sleeper, natural fibres offer the coolest sleep surface.  Both of these mattresses are a medium in the comfort layers.
