What is the best mattress for child with BJHMS

Marcus asked

Hi, I am looking to buy a (single) mattress for my 5 year old daughter who has recently been diagnosed with BJHMS. In the morning she complains of pain in her hips. From reading various web forums the consensus seems to be a memory mattress is best. What would you recommend?

Thanks for your guidance Marcus .

Hi Marcus.

Benign Joint Hypermobility Syndrome – I would take my cue from people who have direct personal experience of this condition.

If Memory Foam is considered to be of benefit to sufferers then it seems the obvious route to go.

For a five year old with a relatively light bodyweight there would be no need to opt for an all singing all dancing product.

The basic structure of a memory foam mattress is a High density Reflex foam support layer or pocket unit with a 2 -5cm layer of Memory Foam on top.

Here at John Ryan we have a range of Hybrid Foam and 100% Natural Latex toppers, that could help. Please view them here or call the office on 0161 437 4419 for more information.
