Which Latex mattress would you recommend?

Thank you for your question and the compliment. Sorry to hear you’re struggling with your Herdy mattress.

First of all we would always recommend boarding over a slatted base when using it in conjunction with a Latex or foam mattress. You can do this using a 3-5mm piece of MDF or Plywood to give the mattress a uniform surface to sit on top of, if your worried about breathability you can use Pegboard. With our Pocket sprung mattresses we would recommend boarding over a sprung slatted base to eliminate any chances of what we refer to as the ‘humpback bridge effect’, which is where the mattress develops a central dip as the pressure from the central support bar is too firm.

It is quite hard to make a comparison between the three mattresses as we can only see the same information that is readily available online regarding other companies mattresses, I have however found some differences.

The Latex Sense Superior Mattress seems to be a predominately latex mattress that does not contain pocket springs, it is 20cm in depth including the 2cm removable cover. It does not state but i assume it is a double sided mattress.

The Silent Night Pocket Latex 2000 is a non-turn mattress containing latex over pocket springs, it is 37cm in depth. When it comes to non-turn mattresses we would only ever recommend one like this that has Latex as the top comfort layer rather than a Pillowtop that contains memory foam as it is more responsive and holds its original shape better and a lot longer than memory foam.

Our Origins Comfort 1000 is supportive to a level at what we would class as a ‘true medium’ based on an average bodyweight. Not too firm and not too soft. Saying that this is the softest mattress we make using different densities of polyester in the comfort layer. To build softer at this price could only mean a reduction in fillings. This mattress does not contain Latex please see below for a layer break down;

We do have one mattress in the Origins range that contains Latex and Pocket springs. The Origins Pocket Latex 1500 is non turn mattress, Combining a quality 1500 springs/” title=”pocket spring”>pocket spring unit with a deep talalay latex comfort layer. Mixing both progressive comfort with traditional support. A medium firmer edge progressive feel.

This mattress is the firmest in the Origins range so may not be suitable considering you are looking for a softer feel mattress.
