Which mattress firmness for me?
We have been sleeping on a Cumflux Ortho Imperial mattress for over 10 years. I’m not sure what type of mattress this actually is but it has been wonderfully comfortable for years. However we decided it was time for a change due to its general age and us developing a few aches and pains in the morning. I am 5.6” and weigh 9st and my husband 5.8” and weighs 11st. I am a side sleeper and often got a dead arm in the old mattress so after falling for all the hype I ordered a bed in a box (the Otty). The mattress is lovely but I just can’t get on with it, waking every morning aching which I think is being caused due to my just not moving at all during the night and sleeping in one position. If I sleep in my side I get a great deal of pain in my back and neck.
We need to buy a new traditional mattress but we can’t face lying on all the beds in the shop again and would welcome a steer on what kind of firmness and mattress would suit us.

Anything Orthopaedic tends to be very firm. Being a side sleeper or partial side sleeper we would always advise to steer clear of anything too firm in the top upholstery. This is what could be causing your pressure point pains.
At the body weights provided we would match you with a Medium spring tension; The spring tension is solely determined by body weight as you need it to give the right level of support for your weight.
We would say generally in this position you need something more medium or medium to soft. As such, please have a look at our Origins Pocket 1500, Artisan Naturals or Artisan Bespoke 004 mattresses.
