Young children mattress advice

Paula asked
21st July 2015

Hi,
Iv just purchased a pair of french antique beds with flat wooden slats. We have just discovered that they are not identical in size as I thought they were. My children who are aged 2half and 1 half will have one each. The inside measurements for one bed are 3ft 3 inches , whilst the other measures 3ft 6 inches, both lengths 6ft 3. What size mattresses would you recommend for both , as I’m having trouble finding these sizes? And which would u advise for children of this age? Plus I don’t want anything that would make them sweat, as natural as possible would be good.
thank you ,
Kind regards.

Hi Paula,

Given the ages of your children and their current body weights, it is unlikely that they would benefit from the use of a pocket sprung mattress at this time.

I would suggest that you look at children’s mattresses in John Lewis or other high street retailers, although you will probably only be able to purchase standard single mattresses measuring 3ft x 6ft 3″, meaning that on both you will have a gap either side.

We can make bespoke sized, naturally filled mattresses in our Artisan range, which are 11″ deep and there is a cost associated with the manufacture of a bespoke size. However, if you want to opt for one from us, please call the office on 0161 437 4419 for more specific advice as to the suitability.

Kind regards Mike.
