Hi there,
I am currently in the market for a new mattress and am looking at purchasing a double from your Artisan range. I am around 12 stone and tend to sleep on my side/front. Having viewed the specifications of the range, I thought the bespoke 002 in medium tension sounded like my best bet – is there another that you feel would be more suitable?
My bed frame has solid slats around 8cm apart – what do you recommend putting between slats and mattress to prolong the life of the mattress? I was considering putting a foam topper under the mattress – what are the pros and cons between this and hardboard/pegboard etc?
Thanks,
David

Hi David

The slats on your base are slightly too far apart, we say a 2-3″ gap is the correct distance, and anything more we would recommend that your place some 3-5mm thick hardboard or mdf over the slatted area.

A foam topper being man-made and non breathable, would still mould between the slats and not really give extra support to the springs, so i wouldn’t recommend this.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

At your bodyweight you are a medium tension spring, in which ever model you choose.

I would recommend going to try the Vi spring comparison mattresses to those in our Artisan range, to see if you can find the model which feels the most comfortable to you in a medium tension spring.

Please note the Vi spring mattresses will be paired with a sprung divan base, and your slatted base, will make those very same mattresses, feel firmer in the tension, please take this into consideration when deciding on your model.

If you require any further assistance please call the office.

Kind Regards Gary
