TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Do I need to board bed base with MDF?

James asked

Hi, I recently purchased your Origins Pocket 1500 mattress and I have a solid wood bed with solid, flat slats which are spaced around 6cm apart. As this isn’t a memory foam mattress and the gap between the slats is small would you still recommend boarding the bed base?

Would putting an old duvet over the slats help?

Still do both?

I love the new mattress and just want to make sure I take the best care of it. Thanks a lot, James

Hi James,

Thank your for your enquiry on our website.

We are glad you are happy with your Origins Pocket 1500.  We do recommend that if the slats are more than 7.5 cm apart that you do board over them  with MDF or plywood.  As your’s are less than this there will be no need.  Your mattress would benefit from a soft cushion, such as a duvet to prevent indents in the underside.

If you would like to discuss this or anything else please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419 between 8 am and 8 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am and 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Kind Regards
