Looking for mattress for ottoman base

Paul asked
14th December 2014

Hi, I am currently looking for a new king size bed.

But am not sure what to go for as both me and my wife are just over 20 stone.

Budget can be adjusted to suit as most concerned about getting a good bed that will last for under 2k.

Do you have any comment on using a Ottoman End Opening Divan with your mattresses?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your question.

The issue with ottoman bases is making sure that the gas struts used to support the raised mattress are strong enough to support at least 85KG.

Our Ottoman Base is constructed using 800 newton gas struts; The base requires a bit of a push to begin with and then the struts will take over. This base, being a solid top base, will give any mattress going on top of it a slightly firmer feel.

As far as finding the most suitable mattress for you both is concerned, I note that although you have indicated your body weights and budget, you have not specified the preferred feel for you both.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

The most important for you is that you receive support and comfort in appropriate levels.

I would ask that you contact our office and speak to either Marie or Gary to obtain more specific advice as the most suitable mattress in our Origins and Artisan ranges.

Kind Regards, Mike.
