What Mattress?

Hi, We have a Wooden Super King (Slatted base) Bed and would like your advice on which of your mattresses, (pocket sprung and natural fibres) would be suitable. We are of similar weight, under 13 stone and getting on in years. So would two singles push together do, because we do not think we can manage the weight of a full size mattress to turn or move about.

Hi Mike,

There are a number of factors that we take into account when recommending a mattress for someone and they are body weight(s), preferred feel and budget. We do also consider what type of base the mattress is going to be on as this can affect overall feel. In your particular case, your body weights dictate a medium spring tension, but the latter two main elements are not advised.

Our naturally filled mattresses are the Artisan range and even though we have some information missing at this point, I would suggest that you view the Artisan Naturals, Artisan Bespoke 004 and Artisan Bespoke. All of these products can be made in a super king size zip and link set to assist with turning and rotating and can be used on a slatted bed base. I would advise that before placing the mattress on the slats you should look to place some form of barrier, usually thin (3-5mm) MDF over the slats to provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit, although you should bear in mind that this will make any mattress feel slightly firmer. Once you have viewed these products, please call our office to discuss the suitability of one of them for your requirements.

Kind regards.
