Solutions 4 Drawer Ottoman Base
Hello, we are looking at your artisan 004 mattress and have just come across what seems like the perfect best of both worlds solution for our base – an ottoman with 4 drawers at furniture village. This makes the total base height 16 inches which I think is higher than normal but not sure. They have confirmed they can update their gas struts to allow a heavier mattress (I’m assuming the 004 mattress will be quite heavy). The divan is slatted though and I wonder if this will cause issues. Any thoughts/ advice much appreciated and even better, if you can do a 4 drawer ottoman then that’d be great!
Hi James,
Thanks for getting in touch. I’m a bit perplexed by the use of the term 4 drawer ottoman. Given that ottomans lift up to allow complete use of the underneath I don’t really understand why companies are now offering drawers in them. It removes space and completely negates the need to lift the mattress. I think it’s just a marketing ploy.

We have our own range of high-quality ottomans, no need for slats, which can damage the mattress as they settle between them. We only use super heavy duty struts suitable for our heavy Artisan mattresses, due to all the fillings! You have the full storage capacity of the underneath of the bed with no need for drawers which will only reduce the space. If you do choose a slatted one you will need to board it and find out what the Newton rating of the struts is along with the maximum weight limit. We list our mattress weights here to help.
