Free Mattress Buying Guide

TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Where to start?

Mrs Mason asked
25th August 2016

I currently sleep really badly and would like to buy us a new mattress. We have a wooden slatted bed, I am about 10st and my husband about 13st. We currently have a very cheap mattress, so are effectively starting from scratch and have no idea whether we would sleep better on medium / firm etc. let alone matress type.
Even if we were to go to a showroom, there is a difference between feeling comfortable laying on a bed and getting a good night’s sleep in one.
The only starting point that I have is that I get very hot during the night, which I understand makes certain materials better than others. But otherwise I have no idea where to start.
We are stuck with our solid slatted bed as in a tiny cottage there would be no way of getting a divan up the stairs, but happy to modify it. Thank you so much if you can help.

Hi Mrs Mason

Thank you for your enquiry. As you mention that you get very hot during the night, then the coolest mattresses are those filled with natural fibres, like those in our Artisan range. I would recommend visiting a local stockist of Vi-spring beds, to try the Vi-spring comparison models, to our Artisan range.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

At the body weights you have supplied we would pair you both with a medium spring tension to give you the correct level of support and then personal preferences and sleeping habits determine the comfort layers.

Once you have tried the mattresses, and find your favourite model, give the office a call on 0161 437 4419 to discuss which will be the best option in our range.

Kind Regards
