zip and link bed zips?
I want to buy 2 x 90cm wide single beds that can be zipped together when necessary to make a super king size double bed when needed. I’d like the zip to be high up on the mattresses so there is no uncomfortable gap in the middle of the double bed.
In addition, I’d like each bed to be on its own ottoman. I am 72 now and I’d like the ottoman bed to be easy to open when I’m 82. Does such a combination exist?

Hi Louise,
Thanks for your question. We can make a zip and link mattress and base combination to this requirement, no problem.
The zips on our zip and link mattresses are on both sides of the mattress about 1.5inches – 2 inches down from the top upholstery layer. This means you don’t feel the zips and it keeps the mattresses snugly fitted together.
You can order a standard super king size ottoman base which already comes in two halves, which would fit each single zip and link mattress on. You can then split the mattresses if you so wish. If you’re ordering a headboard as well then it may be worthwhile ordering two single headboards of the same design they can sit together as a one piece, or apart as two separate beds.
As for the ease of lifting that’s a tricky one. Our mattresses are very heavy given all the fillings. You can see the weights here. The gas struts used in our Ottoman bases are 1000 Newton struts so are super strong and will enable the mattress to lift without you needing to lift the entire weight on your own. We couldn’t guarantee how easy it would be because obviously, it depends on your strength. Once you start the lift they usually move up relatively easily. Sorry, we can’t give you a more certain answer but it’s something to bear in mind.
