Zip and link zips on other side

J Wade asked

Regarding my earlier post, perhaps I didn’t express myself clearly.
I can’t physically lift a one piece king size pocket sprung mattress to turn it, hence my interest in Z&L. I’m not concerned about feeling the zip, what I am concerned about is that the zipped edges of the mattresses, which will always be in the middle, will take a “set”. I believe other manufacturers who put two (as opposed to four) zips on their mattresses have them such that if you unzip the pair for turning, each mattress can be flipped side to side (not end over end) and then re-zipped. If the zips on your mattresses are one above the other, I realise that whilst I only need to fasten the top zip, when I turn the mattress I will have to unzip, flip each side independently side to side then rotate through 180 degrees (so foot becomes head and vice versa) so the zips offer up to one another rather than being on the outside edges.
“Zips on both sides for consistency” is a bit ambiguous but Mike’s post on 14th Jan 2016 to Nicky says that the zips are places to mattresses can be flipped head to toe. This isn’t an option for me and that’s why I asked for clarification.

Hi J Wade,

Thanks for your follow-up, apologies, it seems like I had crossed wires with your earlier question found here. Thank you for providing clarity so I can help you more clearly. Sometimes it would be so much easier if we could draw a diagram or have customers send up a sketch! Maybe I should get our IT department onto that for the future!

I see what you mean now, you’re looking for a mattress where you can flip the individual sides ‘side to side’ not ‘head to toe’. So your middle becomes the edge and vi versa as you turn it. Unfortunately, we don’t offer this on our zip and links. However, I know that Vispring can offer this at an extra cost so you can turn them in the fashion you require.

The consistency reference is that the zips are on the same edge on each side, apologies if this was a bit ambiguous! For our wider audience, we have comments that state that zip and links are quite difficult to visualise you see.  So I always make reference to the zip being on each side, so that people can picture it if they are not familiar. Though you only need to zip up one side, not both, or this would make it very difficult to manhandle and turn as you have referenced.

We hope that helps and wish you the best in finding a bed that can meet your requirements given that we are unable to at this time.  Should we be able to assist you in the future, please do not hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
