A customer asked

Hello John, Thank you for a very informative site, something that when it comes to mattresses seems to be very uncommon.

I am in the market for a new bed, I am 6'5" 18 stone and suffer from lower back problems.

Hi Iain

We source our latex from Latexco - as used by Dunlopillo.

I would imagine Millbrook use latex from an equally recognised supplier.

However, if the product is the grey graphite latex - then this is not comparable at all.

The other question is the 3" rows of traditional hand side stitching" entirely questionable!

Hope this helps Iain, and I hope your detailed research will pay off.

John and Ryan.

Hello John,

Thank you for your reply.

I would have got back to you sooner but I had a computer failure.

I have further info in answer to my questions from Millbrook:

  1. The Saturn 2500 is definitely 4 rows of hand side stitching and we do actually hand side stitch.

All Saturn mattresses no matter who the retailer will have 4 rows of hand side stitching.

2. latex is from the British foam company and it is Talalay, I am awaiting the breakdown %

3. The material used to encase the pocket springs is made from non-woven, polyester fibres I am also interested in how The Millbrook Saturn King size would                      compare against both your Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000 and Artisan Naturals King size mattresses, both in comfort and longevity.

Kind regards, Iain.

Hi again Iain.

You cannot compare two mattresses of completely different build.

The Millbrook Saturn can be compared to our Origins Latex and as you now have all the relevant detail it is now a lot easier for you to do so.

My views are the finish and detailing on The Millbrook Saturn is far superior than our model - BUT - the average retail price of that particular kingsize mattress is around the £850 mark and you will have to come to a decision as to whether the detailing alone would be worth paying the difference between the two models.

I would also say that our filling content at 6cm Latexco latex on one side is better, and the addition of 2cm HD foam as insulator will give an outstanding longevity factor.

Now you have come this far, the choice as to whom you go with is down to you.

As for our Artisan range we are now in a completely different class altogether.

There is nothing further we can say to add to our detailed specification.

I would point you in the direction of Vi Spring to make informed comparisons, particularly their Regal Superb model.

Either way we would be interested to know how you come to your final decision and why.

John and Ryan.
