We founded the business in 2005 and have been at the heart of John Ryan By Design LTD ever since. Every product, process, component and web post has been created by us with our seal of approval. We are the tireless mattress geeks!

We are still small enough to give a true, honest, and unbiased friendly service to our customers and now, nine years later established enough to know exactly what we’re talking about, without the spin and marketing nonsense.

Gary

Outside of work I like to spend time socialising with family and friends, especially on warm summer weekends where everyone joins me in my ‘Garden Bar’. I also love listening to and making my own music.
My favourite mattress is the Artisan Bespoke 004 which I have had for over 10 years now and absolutely love it.
Top Sleep Tip: Make sure your sleeping environment is the correct temperature i.e. 16 degrees, for the best nights undisturbed sleep.
Sleep Area Expertise: I specialise in bespoke size orders, for those customers with non standard sizes of bed in mind.

I like to go to the Gym and also walking to keep fit together with meeting up with friends and family which is so important
My favourite JR Mattress is the Artisan Naturals which I have had now for over 13 years – it is fabulous.
Top sleep tip: Use really good cotton or bamboo bedding to keep you cool and also do not use a mobile phone before bed as this suppresses the production of melatonin which is the natural sleep hormone released early in the evening which makes you tired.
Sleep area expertise: I specialise in Zip & link mattresses and advice on trouble sleeping for partners.

Michaela

My favourite things to do are spending time with my family, 2 small grandchildren will help to keep you young and I like to read as it helps me to relax after a long day.
My favourite mattress is the Artisan Naturals. I’ve owned one for 5 years and when I upgraded to a super kingsize zip and link, I liked it so much I bought another one. However, given my age, maybe next time I’ll go for the soft but supportive layers of the Artisan Luxury.
Top sleep tip: Having a warm bath before bed helps you to relax. Change your bedding regularly, there is nothing like getting into a freshly made bed is there.
Area of sleep expertise: My area of expertise to help those suffering with back problems and those who have difficulty sleeping due to chronic pain. A mattress can’t cure illness but it shouldn’t make it worse!
