Can you advise on Hypnia brand mattress?

A customer asked

Hi, i have been trying to get as much info from your excellent site before taking the plunge and getting a new mattress to replace our old one.

I do not have a large budget - 200-300 and seem to be drawn to the Hypnia brand.

Due to our 18month old coming in to bed with us every night, this leave me perched on the edge of our current pocket spring mattress and the sides seem to have collapsed and prove no support anymore.

I have found a couple i am interested in and if possible would like your opinion on both - a foam only so hopefully the sides wont give in again - here - .

Hi Gareth,

Thanks for your question.

Your budget does restrict you somewhat.

Given that you disclose your current pocket sprung mattress is giving way on the sides it might be worth looking at something like foam or latex instead. I would advise here though that you might struggle with your budget. I would note that mattresses are designed to be slept on right at the edge - With ourselves we do reinforce our pocket sprung mattresses with either butterfly clips (Origins range) or a firmer spring around the outside edge (Artisan range). This is to prevent the roll off effect but as I say ideally you shouldn't be sleeping right at the edge of the mattress.

You might be best looking at purchasing a foam mattress with as high a depth as possible to provide as much surface you can sink in to.The model you've found supports high body weights so this should give you a good foundation to work with.  You could then potentially look into adding a completely separate topper to introduce an extra comfort layer.

Please also note that as part of our own care and maintenance guidelines we do recommend flipping the mattress over once a month to allow even distribution of wear and tear as well even settlement of the fillings. This will however, only relate to fully turnable mattresses. One sided mattresses can't be turned over as foams in particular are constructed with a much firmer underside.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact me on 0161 437 4419. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Kind Regards, Lee.
