A customer asked

Hi. I am wanting a soft mattress as I currently sleep on a meduim sprung Vispring which is 15 tears old and feels very firm to me. My back feels like it is arching and I have worsening lower back and hip pain. I am 53 and I want a double just for me.
John Lewis do a wembury visping which is soft and I really loved it only the Tempur Cloud was a contender in comparison. However I am 13 stones ( hoping to lose one or two stones this year) and want a deep mattress as I have read that if you are heavy and like soft, then a deep mattress is needed for satisfying rest. The wembury is only 21cm deep, would it be ok? If not is there a deeper Vispring out there that is about £1300? I really do want a soft mattress!!

Hi Suzy,

Before advising upon which mattress might be best for you, I would confirm that whatever you buy will feel slightly firmer on the sprung slatted base.

I would also advise placing some form of barrier between the mattress and the base to avoid any ridging.

Mattresses in our Artisan range have natural upholstery layers and some in this range are comparable to some Vi-Spring mattresses in terms of overall feel.

Please visit the site to view these products and call our office for more specific advice as to the suitability of one of these for you.

Kind Regards Gary.
