Afternoon chaps,
Your website is a bright beacon amongst the sea of confusing twaddle peddled by other bed sellers!!
In a bit of a pickle, if you could help it'd be much appreciated :)
After a bed, i weigh 23st 6'2" (ex prop forward), mrs 13st 5'0" (likes cake, hopefully she wont see this).
I have lower back problems and shoulder issues, mrs has bad hips.
Current bed is a sks kozysleep pocket master 1100, bought 6 years ago, dented badly 4 years ago, now has very little support as you can basically compress the mat to the divan with your hand.
No idea about firmness ratings.
I sleep on my side, she sleeps on back/side.
Budget £800 ish. Help.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your kind words we are glad to shine some light on the sometimes dark confusing area of beds! The talk of cakes making me hungry but I must concentrate on the advice before reaching for a slice!

I can see the pickle you’re in and hopefully some of our advice will allow you to have your cake and eat it. In all seriousness there’s a significant weight difference between you and your partner, which is the hardest part to over come. Usually the option is to either go softer than one would like or firmer than one would like which is never ideal. Unfortunately most mattresses are made for an average weight and stress, the more you increase this then the higher the chance of settlement and compression.

We however have created a mattress range specifically for the weight ranges you’re in to minimize the difference between sleepers in your situation. We’ve used high resilience foams to create a supportive, durable and most importantly comfortable mattress utilizing a deep topper for the comfort layer.

At your weight I’d recommend one of our Resilience mattresses, which are designed specifically for your weight and height range. They will offer a medium support at your weight but with a softer top layer, being either Laygel or Natural Latex. This mattress will feel firmer for your partner, though the softer topper it comes with will help alleviate this.

I wouldn’t recommend any of our other ranges as they have a weight limit of 18 stone usually. If you did choose one of these you do run the risk of increased settlement, as there’s more stress on the bed. It sounds like you have experienced this with your current mattress.

The Resilience is two sided so can be turned to reduce wear and settlement, which should be something that’s high on your list as many mattresses aimed at the larger sleeper are one sided which limits their shelf life. The Resilience offers both support and comfort and because it comes with a separate topper. The topper is removable and you can always replace this at a later date if you wish, as settlement may occur over time, rather than the entire mattress. It should help extend the life of your mattress and enable you to use it far longer than a standard off the shelf offering.

If you have any further questions please give the office a call on 0161 437 4419

I hope the advice helps you get a step closer to a solution. Don’t worry we too love a bit of cake and never discriminate! ;-) John Ryan
