Split tension mattress or zip and link?

I am 9 stone exactly but my husband is 16 stone. I prefer a soft-medium mattress however he prefers a medium-firm. He gets very hot at night whereas I get very cold. Our current mattress is over 15 years old but every time we come to buy one we can never agree on the right mattress. Can you help?
