mattress firmness

The ideal mattress would allow a straight back when lying on my side. I believe that my waist is not really supported on a firm surface so the back sags. I would imagine that a softer pocket spring surface would allow the shoulder and pelvis to sink into the mattress a bit more, providing more support at the waist level.
Is my thinking wrong or correct please. (We both have chronic back problems) Trying out a bed in a shop is usually pointless. Many thanks.

Hi there,

I note from your subsequent post that you advise that you are both around 12st and this would normally dictate that you opt for a medium spring tension mattress. What you specifically require is support from the spring unit with comfort being provided by the upholstery layers

Please view the details of the Origins Pocket 1500, which has synthetic upholstery and will provide an overall medium feel for you both.

Alternatively, if your budget permits, please view the naturally upholstered mattresses in our Artisan range and in particular the Artisan Naturals, Artisan Bespoke 004 and Artisan Bespoke, the latter of which would provide a firmer feel even if a medium spring tension is selected. Once you have viewed the products detailed herein, please call our office for more specific advice as to suitability. I trust that this helps.

Kind regards,
