Hello,
We started our journey to look for a new mattress back in Jan 2021 (a year ago!). Our first stop was Dreams-we thought we would try out their gadget to determine what type of mattress would suit us. I am 5’6 69kg and my husband is 5’10 around 80kg. We both sleep on our side, and at dreams we were recommended a medium to firm pocket-spring-mattress.

The mattress we had been using for the past five years was great, pocket-spring one I think, but during our move and towards us moving we felt like it wasn’t as comfortable as it once was so decided to get a new one.

Now in Dreams the mattress they recommended and my husband liked was the lilac hydrasleep or something, but after reading reviews and realising it’s not that easy to return, added to the fact that I wasn’t keen, we decided not to purchase and look online.
I did some research online and Nectar was listed as number 1 on a website, so thought we would try that. It was too hard, and I woke up with achy sides and back ache like I had never experienced before, so after about three months we returned it.

Some family members use Emma and swear by it, so we ordered the Emma original. This time the mattress was so hard that my husband would have to help me out of bed as it was causing me too much pain across my back and all down my sides, both of them as I was constantly tossing and turning overnight. So after about three months we returned that too. My husband really liked it but it was too painful for me.

Then we thought we would try the Hybrid Emma, as it was a soft to medium, which we are currently sleeping on now and in the process of arranging a return unfortunately. It sags in the middle and we both find we are rolling towards each other during the night, not only that we aren’t having a great nights sleep, it causes him more aches than me, and neither of us wake up feeling well rested.

Now, the reason we chose these companies is due to the guarantee they will accept a return if we aren’t happy. I’m concerned about buying a mattress and not having the option to return if it doesn’t suit us.

I really don’t know what to do and what type of mattress to go for next. Any help and advice would be really appreciated.
FYI-we have a solid slat wooden base bed.

We are desperate to have a cosy good nights sleep!!! Please help.
