Sorry to hear about your back pain! As far as I understand the Dartmoors upholstery layer is exclusively wool. In our mattresses we tend to use a greater variety of upholstery layers in considered combinations to offer different feels.

The Dartmoor could be considered a starter/entry level model and they do tend to use a greater variety/amount of fillings in their more expensive models.

A mattress from us for the same budget would likely contain a greater amount of springs and variety/amount of upholstery. That said though if you find the Dartmoor comfortable then that is clearly the right choice for you.

I could make an argument regarding selecting a mattress with the highest amount of components in order to get the most bang for your buck but at the end of the day it is about what you find comfortable thats the most important.

From what i can see online the Dartmoor is described as a medium in the upholstery. The Artisan Naturals is described as the 'true medium' of the Artisan range and is compared closely to the Vi Spring Regal Superb.
