85 % of this mattress is natural fibres - what is the other 15 %?
If put on a slatted base what type of covering do you advise over the slats? As I understand that 'breathability' on the underside of certain mattresses is a must.
What are Bonnell springs in comparison to pocket springs? Aside from making the mattress a little cheaper any other advantage of the former over the latter? Or vice versus?
After I put my first question/comments on this site I wasn't sure I had used the right 'contact' means, & when I didn't get a reply within the next few days I wrote you an e-mail instead. Which has still to be responded to. I take it you are not keen on this form of communication?
Are you ever asked to provide an independent opinion over a dispute about another Manufacturer's mattress - is this something you can do? & if so, what would be the fee?
Thank you. & for your previous response as well.

Hello Elisabeth,

The Artisan Naturals also contains a layer of polycotton comprising the other 15% of the upholstery. If using this mattress on a slatted base, we would always advocate placing some form of barrier, usually thin (3-5mm) MDF boarding over the base to provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit and prevent ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats. This should not affect the breathability of the mattress as it has vents in the sides and the cover also allows the upholstery to breathe. The Artisan Naturals is a double-sided mattress, which needs to be turned/rotated on a monthly basis for the first twelve months to even out any settlement that occurs. It should then be done every three months thereafter.

Bonell coil springs are cheaper to manufacture than individual pocket springs, but their main disadvantage is that they tend to transmit movement, which can cause disturbance of one party when the other moves during the night. Pocket springs practically eliminate this issue and provide a better overall support.

Our offices were closed between 23rd December 2016 to 3rd January 2017, which may have resulted in a delay in you receiving the original response. We did not answer the e-mail as a response was being drafted via this medium. Having said that, if you do have any further queries, please either call our office on 0161 437 4419 or e-mail.

As far as providing opinions on disputes are concerned, it is difficult to do so as many manufacturers do not publish full details of the construction and upholstery and we cannot be sure what advice if any was provided at the time of purchase. If your dispute is not being resolved, it may be worth making enquiries of the Furniture Ombudsman to see if some assistance can be provided from there.

We trust that this helps.

Kind Regards.
