Richard Lord

We previously purchased, some many years ago, a Limoge mattress from John when he was trading as the Mobile Mattress Man at his suggestion. It has served us very well over the interim years but it is now evident that it is approaching the end of its useful life.
My question is what would be the equivalent mattress in your range today?
The bed is a wooden slat double size
I weigh about 15st
My wife weighs 19st
Many thanks for your advice back whenever John and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your enquiry. It is good to hear that products which John supplied in his early trading days have lasted. Unfortunately, we do not have the specification of the Limoge mattress available and so it is impossible to provide details of a comparable mattress from our current ranges.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Having said that we would advise that with your respective body weights, you ought to be looking at a split spring tension mattress, medium for you and firm for your wife. Such products are normally only available in a one piece in our Artisan range, however, if you were mindful to go for a zip and link set, you could go for the Origins Pocket 1500 with one half having 1500 springs for you and the other half having 2000 to provide the support for your wife.  Both these options are only available in king size and above.

Artisan Bespoke 004 mattress

If you do wish to go for a one piece product, please view the Artisan Naturals, Artisan Bespoke 004 or Artisan Bespoke. All of these mattresses can have the spring tension selected to suit as described above, in king size and above and all have natural upholstery. The Artisan Naturals and Bespoke 004 will provide the same overall feel in the upholstery layers with the difference being that the naturals has 85% natural upholstery and the 004 having 100%. The Bespoke, on the other hand, has the most upholstery in the range and this provides a slightly firmer feel even with the selected spring tension.

All of these mattresses can be used on your slatted base providing that you place some form of barrier, usually thin (3-5mm) MDF over the slats to provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit and prevent ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats.

We trust that the above helps, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our advisors.

Kind regards.
