Thanks for your question.

We say any mattress is fine to use with any base. We sometimes say cover the slats with mdf or hardboard if they are more than 3" apart, or you will be using solid foam or latex mattresses, but apart from that, sometimes just placing an old or cheap duvet over the slats will be all you would need, to protect the underneath of the mattress and help stop any indentations forming, if the mattress is fully turnable.
