Advice on buying new mattress to replace a hot Tempur

Last year I purchased 2 x beds (Origins Pocket Reflex) from yourselves for my holiday let. I have been very pleased with them and have had a lot of positive comments from my holiday guests. I am now thinking of changing my own bed. We currently have a Tempur Combi HD Super King mattress and base which we have had for approx 7 years. I have never been that happy with it as I find it extremely hot so are thinking of replacing the mattress with a John Ryan one. I am 10 stone and my husband is 16 stone but he can sleep on anything!! The main thing I want to avoid is being hot at night so I am looking at the Origins Pocket 1500 or the Origins Pocket Latex 1500. Which one would be the coolest or should I be looking at a more expensive range. I would need a Super King Zip and Link mattress as our staircase is very narrow. Also will it be OK to use our existing base.

Hi Gill,

Many thanks for the positive feedback on your two Origins Reflex mattresses. It's always great to hear back from customers.

Sorry to hear your Tempur mattress is causing some heat issues, this is a really common problem with Tempur foam and Memory foam mattresses. They retain heat which is hot they work and for some sleepers the bed just becomes unbearably hot.

For your weights we would recommend a split tension mattress, your husband is just on the cusp of a firm spring you see. So we would make the recommendation of looking at a medium / firm split.

Have a look at our Origins 1500 in a medium / firm (1500/2000) zip and link. If however you want something more natural and even more breathable then have a look at our Artisan Bespoke 004, again in a medium / firm tension.

The Artisan Bespoke 004 is 100% natural with a vanadian coated calico pocket spring which is the highest quality spring unit you can buy, up there with the best mattress offerings from Vispring and Savoir beds. You can read more on that here.

Zip and link mattresses are great for restricted access spaces. However, we always ask that if you are unsure you get back in touch with the exact dimensions of the access / stairwell route and we can advise further.

We hope that helps Gill. All the best
