Advice on replacing Premier Inn Hypnos mattress
Many years ago we purchase a very expensive hypnos bed 5 ft zipped which lasted 20 years. We then bought a premier inn hypnos bed which we expected to be of the same standard, but sadly this was not the case. We are looking to purchase a pocket sprung replacement bed that can be turned. Being in later years cost is an important issue along with comfort, what do you advise. Would we notice the difference between natural fillings and artificial fillings.
Hi,
Thank you for your question. The Premier Inn Hypnos mattress is a pillowtop mattress. We do not recommend this type of mattress as you can not prolong its lifespan by regularly turning it over. You can replicate the feel of a pillowtop mattress with a two-sided mattress and a separate mattress topper which means both parts are fully turnable. When the topper reaches the end of its lifespan, you can replace it rather than the whole mattress. Our closest mattress to this is the Origins Pocket 1500. If you add a separate mattress topper you would replicate the feel of the Premier Inn Hypnos mattress.
Natural fibres and manmade fibres can have a similar level of comfort. Natural fibres are much more breathable which provides a cooler sleep surface and helps you to regulate your body temperature. These fibres are better for anyone who overheats during the night however on the downside, they weigh more making the mattress much heavier to turn over. Manmade fibres are not as durable which means the lifespan of the mattress will not be as long but they are lighter making them easier to turn over. A zip and link mattress is also much easier to turn over and they are more suitable for those with limited access to their room of choice.
When looking for a new mattress you should take into account your sleep positions as well as comfort preferences. We do not recommend soft upholstery layers for front and back sleepers as sinking in too much in these positions can cause lower back pain. Likewise, we do not recommend firm upholstery layers for side sleepers as this can cause pressure pains in your shoulders and hips. Your height and body weight will determine which spring tension will provide the correct level of support.
I hope this helps and if you would like to discuss your individual needs, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
Michaela
