bed slats
do beds with slats cause heat loss? If they do is it safe to cover them with hardboard? I have bought two single beds for my grandchildren and have been told that the cold air rises up under the bed and are not as warm as divans.
please advise
thank you
Hi Dorothy,
I am not aware of slatted bases causing heat loss, but I would always recommend covering such bases with a thin (3-5mm) layer of MDF, although hardboard is as good. This has nothing to do with heat loss, but prevents any mattress ridging as a result of it dipping into the gaps between the slats. I trust that this helps.
Kind regards,
