buying a shallow mattress 6 inches thick

I live on a narrow boat and need a shallow mattress 6 inches thick, is it possible to get a good pocket sprung medium firm mattress this thin? It has to be a small Double. I also suffer damp in the winter from condensation so I need materials that are least affected by damp but still comfy.
Hi Fiona,
I am afraid that in order to have a quality pocket sprung mattress, decent levels of upholstery are needed either side of the spring to provide the correct level of comfort and it would be nigh on impossible to make one the thickness you require.
It may well be that you will need to investigate a specialist manufacturer or alternatively, look at latex or foam products and abandon your quest for pocket springs.
