chair foam

As my 6 month old rise and tilt £1, 025 chair is uncomfortable I asked if they could put more filling in the seat and the foot rise. I was told it is better to put a piece of foam on top because if it was placed under the chair foam it was "sink" quicker.
This to me sounds like a load of cods wallop. Because surely if more weight is placed on top it would sink quicker. eg if a 14 stone sat on the same sort of foam as a 9 stone...the 14 stone would "dip" a lot lower and quicker.
Am I correct?

Hi Janet,

The rule of thumb with foams is that the lower or lighter density foam usually sits higher up than any denser or firmer foams. Maybe this is what the representative meant. ie putting a 40kg density foam under a 60kg foam will feel different than if it's the other way around. Maybe a softer cushion on top of the chair will help?

I'm afraid I can't comment on any thing else as we specialise in mattresses and not chairs.

All the best
