Please could you suggest a suitable mattress for a wooden frame, king size bed with non sprung slats. My husband and I each weigh between 9 and 10 stone and I sleep on my side. We have previously enjoyed sleeping on a Dunlopillo Sovereign on a sprung slat frame bed. Also, do you recommend placing anything between the mattress and frame? We have preferred latex mattresses to other types in the past.

Hi there,

I note that you enjoyed sleeping on a Dunlopillo Sovereign and our Fusion 3 Latex mattress will provide you with a similar feel to that product for your body weights. If you are intending placing any mattress on a slatted base, we would always advocate placing some form of barrier between the slats and the mattress. If the slats are less that 3 inches apart, then an old duvet or blanket will suffice, however, if they are further apart you should place some thin (3-5mm) MDF sheeting over the slats. This will make any mattress placed upon it feel slightly firmer, but will prevent any ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats.

I trust that the above is of assistance to you, but if your require any further guidance or advice, please call our office.

Kind regards.
