A customer asked

Wow! What a site - thank you for all this amazing advice.
my question is regarding mattress for a child. ( I looked for a section on kids mattresses but couldn't find one - idea?)
I've just purchased a single slatted oak bedframe for my 5 year old daughter and need a mattress. Our budget is around £350 and would prefer medium and a high degree of natural materials. Poor thing comes into our pocketsprung superking and asks why her bed is so rubbish (currently has a cheapo foam toddler bed).
Any recommendations? Many thanks.

Hi Laura,

As you are know, mattresses which utilise natural fibres in the upholstery are more expensive than those with synthetic upholstery.

Our Artisan range comprises mattresses with natural fibres, but unfortunately, the lowest priced one, the Artisan 1500 is roughly a 50/50 split of natural and synthetic fibres and retails at £485 for a single.

John Ryan By Design Artisan 1500
1 500gsm Wool
2 600gsm Rebound Poly Cotton (50/50)
3 700gsm Polyester
4 600gsm: Rebound Poly Cotton (50/50)
5 700gsm Polyester
6 1200 gsm Cashmere Hair Pad as Insulator
7 1500 Spun Bond Pocket Springs (Soft/Med or Firm)
Total GSM 4300gsm

If you were to compromise on natural upholstery, our Origins Comfort 1000 retails at £360 for a single and represents excellent value for money.

John Ryan By Design Origins Comfort
1 750gsm Very Soft Polyester
2 500gsm Polyester Pad
3 One Inch Foam Insulator Layer
4 1000 Spun Bond Pocket Springs
