Comfort layers in your Artisan vs ViSpring

A customer asked

I am very interested in your Aertisan Luxury mattress - I am 6ft3 and 14 stone my partner is 5ft7 and 12 stone - so there is a bit of difference between us in body makeup, but we both prefer a soft "enveloping" mattress. I am tall and slim and so have pressure points mainly on my hips and shoulders when I sleep on my side. We have recently tried and like the ViSpring Devonshire and we both preferred the "soft" tension. We also tried another Vispring (cant recall the name - Tiara perhaps?) but it had the "ViSpring Heaven" topper and it was superb in a medium tension. I notice that the Heaven topper has about 1200gsm of wool (300gsm of fleece/ 600gsm of "needled" / 300gsm of fleece). I see from your specs that the Artisan Luxury has a lot more in the comfort layer than the Devonshire - so my question is really this: if your Artisan Luxury is comparable in feel to the Devonshire, would the added comfort layers you include make it more like the ViSpring one with a Heaven topper? I ask because in the Devonshire we both preferred the "soft" tension (with no topper") but in the other with the topper, the medium tension was fine. So ai am trying to workout which tension to order in your Artisan Luxury (soft or medium). Any help is appreciated.

Hi Brent,

Thank you for your question.

You are right that the Artisan Luxury has considerably more comfort layers than the Vi Spring Devonshire.

I would however recommend the medium tension which is going to give you the correct support for your body weights.   I know from your comment that you would like a soft option but we don't want it to be unsupportive at the same time.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

If you opt for the medium tension which as above will give you the correct support which is very important, if you found the mattress a little too firm, you could always then add a mattress topper which will give you extra comfort layers.   It is better to purchase a mattress that is slightly too firm as you can add that topper.  However if you purchase a mattress that is too soft, there is no way to firm it up.

I hope this assists but if you do require any further information or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
