Do goose feather mattress toppers add extra comfort

The short answer to your query is yes

However, when purchasing a new mattress you ought to be looking at the level of upholstery and whether that will provide the comfort you require.

Mattress toppers are used primarily to provide an extra comfort layer on a mattress which may be feeling too firm, but if you get the right spring tension and upholstery for your body weight and preferred feel, there should be no need to apply a topper.

Please note that a goose feather topper in particular will require maintenance every couple of days as you'll need to give it a shake to re-distribute the fillings inside.
