Unfortunately, your budget is really quite low and there is absolutely nothing out there for this budget to get anything remotely close to the quality of the Hypnos product you tried. What you can reasonably expect to get is a pocket sprung support with either polyester or/and memory Foam comfort layers. The challenge you are faced with is to try and get as much upholstery in your mattress as you possibly can.

As a starter and a viable means of comparison take a look at our Origins Reflex mattress here. (I am assuming you are looking for a Double). All you have to do now is to look at mattresses that fall within this price range and do simple like for like comparisons to see if you can get better. Another alternative for people on a low budget is to buy the support and the comfort separately.

For this I mean buy a mattress (say £250 - £300) (1000 pocket springs) to act as the support ( all pocket units in this price range will be relatively similar and look for the two-sided models. Then purchase your own comfort layers (ie Toppers) so that you can specifically get the comfort your back requires. By having a two-sided basic mattress you will be able to turn and rotate using the same topper which will obviously give you a much longer lifespan out of your mattress.

A good fitted sheet will keep all this together.
