Latex core material

A customer asked

I am considering the best choice of solid latex cored mattress and wondered if there was any reason why you didn't offer a solid natural latex talalay mattress similar to the Bellagio mattress offered by Latex sense. I understand the different manufacturing processes and it is possible you may sink further into a talalay product before being fully supported---is this the main disadvantage. I was looking for a turnable and rotatable unit. We weigh 12 and 14 stone.

Hi John,

Many thanks for this question.  We do not currently offer a 100% Talalay model due to two restrictions.

  1. Price - 100% Natural Genuine Talalay, rather than say 20% Natural Talalay (often labelled as 100% Talalay) is incredibly expensive.  Read our posts on checking the exact specifics of the latex with any supplier here.
  2. Support - Dunlop is a far more supportive latex when used in this fashion.  Our design is to give you the optimal progressive comfort vs support.  With Talalay you would need much more latex, making the bed higher and more expensive.  Unless you want a really soft feel mattress we find that most customers don't require this type of mattress.

At your weights I'd recommend a medium latex core, such as the fusion 3.  The removable topper will give you that soft sink feeling similar to Talalay without being swallowed whole by a soft density Talalay.  If you need any more help please give us a ring John for more help.

Fusion 3 Dunlopillo Royal Sovereign
Cover Micro-quilt John Ryan Cover with tape edged damask sides 2cm quilted cover with Actipro
1 5cm 100% 70kg Natural Latex NA
2 18cm 100% 70kg Natural Latex 19cm Latex (Density & blend unknown)
Total Depth 23cm + 3-5 cm for the quilted cover 21cm

I hope the above is of assistance but please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419 should you require any further information.

Kind regards Julie
