Latex vs Laygel topper
Hi
I have one of your natural mattresses and it's still going fine. But I've found that I like a foam top layer. My current one is wearing out and I'm thinking of getting one of yours.
I was thinking of the 100% latex topper but I noticed the description says "plush but firm". I am less than 70kg and like to feel the support of sinking into the foam. Do you think this will work for me or would laygel be better?
Is laygel synthetic latex?
Can you suggest any mattresses in e.g. John Lewis that I could try out if I want to get an idea of the difference between these two products?
Thanks
Johnathan
Hi Jonathan,
Great to hear from you and glad you're enjoying one of our Natural fibre hand made in the UK mattresses!
The main difference between the two is as follows:
- Our Natural Latex topper is 100% natural vs the Laygel which is a man made foam
- Laygel is softer and has more bounce
- Latex will far outlast any man made foam as it has a longer lifespan hence the price difference
- Latex is firmer but offers incredible 'bounce back' to its original shape
- Natural latex is more breathable and therefore cooler in the summer compared to Laygel
- Both are fully turnable and should be turned and rotated just like your mattress each month
We couldn't recommend any mattresses to test out as you'd in effect be creating a hybrid bed with our original mattress and then this topper. That is unless they showcase toppers on their own - in which case if you managed to find a 100% natural latex one (unlikely as most are a synthetic blend at best in the retailers) and some form of hybrid foam then you could get a feel for them that way.

All the best John & Ryan
