Mattress for slats

Thanks Ryan and John Yep, realised that the protection is for the mattress upholstery.

In fact Hypnos have enclosed a care leaflet with the mattress, which has just been delivered.

It says that if the slats are more than 3 inches apart then a 'bedstead mattress base' would be needed underneath the mattress.

My bed slats are quite wide and only about 1.5 inches apart but from your comments I think that some padding between mattress and slats is still best.

Got a great deal for the Sandringham on the web, so didn't pay anywhere near RRP.

But you are right, it is a quality mattress and I will be looking into finding a better solution than the white hardboard-with-a-thick-flannalette-sheet-on top currently in place.

Like the idea of a mattress topper too thanks.

Hadn't thought of that as I had previously thought toppers were for comfort rather than durability.

Cheers .

Hi Shena,

Thanks for your comments.

With slatted bases we would always simply advise placing some standard sheets of MDF, plywood or pegboard over them if the gaps between them are bigger than that 3" threshold.

This will then protect from indentation and damage because any mattress will normally attempt to settle in these gaps.

Enjoy your new mattress and please feel free to let us know how you get on with it or indeed come back to us on 0161 437 4419 if you have any further queries.

Kind Regards, John and Ryan.
