A customer asked

Hi Hope you had a nice Christmas break, decide to buy a new mattress a few weeks for it was just a simple simple task of going down the local retail park trying a few and buying one, how wrong was I.
Think it's easier to buy a second had car, at least you can see the difference between a mini and a Rolls.
Any way after many visits and 30 second lie downs and some research the best beds we came up with was Millbrook Latex Superior 3500 only sold at Gardner Haskins, (£1,015 for a double -10%) which is a bit miss leading as 3500 = 1000 springs in the bed and 2500 springs in the mattress.
How ever Millbrooks were helpful and did send me a specification sheet, 2500 pocket springs, 30mm Talalay Latex plus layers of soft cotton silk and lambswool and the one we tried was medium.
My question is we both like the softness of this bed I'm 16st and the Mrs is 9.5st We also like the softness of the Latex pillowtop 1500 Mattress - Medium Support from M&S at £559.
Where your Origins Pocket Latex 1500 - Double states it would feel very firm to any one under 10st.
I know its difficult to answered without having all 3 beds next to each other but how soft is your bed compared to these other two ?.
As far a quality both M&S and Millbrook don't give too much away but I can clearly see what's in your bed especially 60mm of Latex.
If you could give me any advice it would be greatly appreciated as I wouldn't want to order one to find out it doesn't feel right.
Thanks.

Hi Mark

Thank you for your question.   Firstly let me apologise in the delay in getting back to you.  As you will appreciate it has been extremely busy since returning from the Christmas Break.

You can look at this in two ways.

Firstly the main component in all these mattresses is of course the latex component.  The more Latex included, the firmer it will feel and obviously the more expensive the mattress as a whole.

Secondly, we always err on the side of caution and use feedback from previous customers to determine suitability for a particular weight.

60mm of latex is an above average amount putting the value and worth of our Origins Latex into perspective to the models you mention.

In this case we would have no qualms whatsoever in saying that this will be perfect for you.   However, your wife being 6st or so lighter will obviously not be sinking into the mattress as much as you will be but that does not mean to say she will find it uncomfortable if she prefers a mattress that is really firm.

We also need to make sure that you are properly supported as the springs in a mattress are there to give you the support and then the top layers are there to give you the comfort.  The Origins Pocket Latex 1500 does come with a medium spring tension which is more than adequate to support you both.

I think it would benefit you both to telephone our office and speak to one of our Advisors for further information and assistance on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
