My mattress is arching in the middle

Hi.
I recently purchased a double bed frame, and a mattress to go with it and I'm not quite sure what type of mattress but now that my bed frame is all put together and its made, the mattress arches up in the middle and dips down at the sides, so my whole bed is uneven. Is this because of the mattress? The bedframe is metal and it has two sets of thin slatted boards for support. I can pretty much feel the support beam through the bed and its killing my back.

The issue you have is being caused buy the bed frame and I would suggest that you place a thin layer (2-3mm) of MDF board over the slats to provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit.
I appreciate that this may make your mattress feel a little firmer, but this can be alleviated by the application of a topper.
