My husband is 14st and 5ft 8. I am 8st 12 and 5ft. We would like a firm, supportive mattress. We both have usual wear and tear joint and back pain but nothing significant - we are in our early 50's. We like the divan base idea with two full and two half draws. What would be your advice to us?

Hi Dianne,

Thanks for getting in touch and supplying your heights and weight, this really helps us provide tailored recommendations. We usually require an idea of a budget so we're going to recommend a model from each of the ranges that are most popular.

We would recommend you look at the Artisan 1500 in a medium and soft split tension as a starter for ten. This will give you a firmer feel in the top layer but a medium support feel which your body weights require. Split tensions would be ideal given the difference in body weight and we would highly recommend you consider one to prevent the mattress being too firm for you if you go for a one piece medium tension. We have a guide on spring tensions and why they matter here.

An alternative would be to look at the Origins 1500 Latex which has a firmer feel in the top layer and features a Talalay latex. This is a one-sided mattress though due to the latex layer, however, we would still advise you rotate it once a month to swap the foot and the head end.

Both of these recommendations can be paired with our bases with the drawer configurations you've specified. If you need any more advice or guidance Diane please give us a call on 0161 437 4419 for more help.

All the best
