New mattress needed

A customer asked

Hi I need to replace my Vi Spring Herald Supreme which is well over 20 years old now. When I bought it I weighed around 11 stone and now I'm 18 stone and would want something slightly firmer. The mattress has held up well with no sagging or problems but it just feels like it's almost about to give up as the edges/sides are no longer supportive and sometimes you can feel the odd Spring digging in.
I'd like to know if you can suggest a better mattress that would also last 20+ years. I'm open to any suggestions.
Many thanks
SJ

Hi there,

Thank you for your question.

It is unlikely that you will find a mattress that is guaranteed to last as long as your previous mattress. Having said that, most mattresses, if looked after by applying a protector, turning and rotating regularly, they should last longer than the guarantee period provided. As you may be aware, it is difficult to find products these days where the full description in terms of construction and constituent parts (upholstery) are disclosed, which makes any form of comparison impossible.

With your particular body weight I would suggest that you opt for a firm spring tension with the comfort being provided by the upholstery layers. Please view our Artisan products and in particular the Artisan Bespoke, which  has a similar feel to the Vi Spring Herald.   I believe this will provide you with a luxuriously filled mattress and the support you require from the spring unit. This comes with a ten year manufacturers guarantee, but as detailed above, with proper care and consideration, I would expect it to last a lot longer.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

I hope that this assists but please do not hesitate to contact our office should you require further information or advice.

Kind regards Julie
