Option: Mammoth Mammoth or Vispring Devonshire soft?

Patricia

Hello,
My mattress (Silent Night Orthopaedic Hollywood) + sprung edge double size divan is 20+ years old (originally in spare room) and after recently fracturing a lumbar vertebrae (+ 25 yrs ago fracturing 2 neck vertebrae) I think it's about time I purchased a new mattress /divan.
Having tried what's available in various local bed shops, I've narrowed it down to a Mammoth Mammoth (ex display so under £1000) don't know which divan?), or a Vispring Devonshire 'soft' Mattress & Devonshire Divan, averaging @ £2000+.
I am 69 (you'd never guess, as I'm fit, so don't think decrepit but NHS specialist recently suggested an osteoporosis test: next week) 5'8", approx 9.5 stone and I sleep alone.
I also suffer from dust mite allergy (not surprising the age of my mattress!!)
Both seem really good options and as the Mammoth Mammoth (without ex display discount) is approx. the same price as the Vispring Devonshire soft and both are comfortable, I'm at a loss of what to do.
Do you have any insight that may be helpful and if it's the Mammoth Mammoth, which divan would I purchase?
It's terribly good of you to answer Q's like this, so with many thanks.

Hello Patricia,

Thank you for your question.

The difference between the Mammoth Mammoth mattress and the Vi Spring Devonshire is obviously the upholstery fillings used.   The Mammoth mattress is made of foam and the Vi Spring Devonshire has 100% natural fillings.   The Mammoth mattress is a non-turn mattress so essentially you have lost one side of the mattress due to only being able to rotate it.  The Vi Spring Devonshire is a fully turnable mattress and is therefore going to last you a very long time.

The Mammoth mattress is also classed as a medium to firm whereas the Vi Spring Devonshire is a very soft mattress in the upholstery layers but the spring tension in the Vi Spring mattress can be tweaked to suit your body weight.  We would recommend a medium spring tension for you which will then give you the correct support.

Our Artisan Luxury mattress has a similar feel to the Vi Devonshire again with 100% natural soft fillings and is fully turnable and comes with a ten year guarantee.   We also offer a 60 day returns guarantee.

As both the Mammoth Mammoth and the Vi Spring mattresses have different comfort levels, one being a medium to firm and the other mattress being totally the opposite in it having those soft fillings, you may be better going to try some of the other Vi Spring mattresses.   The Vi Spring Regal Superb has a medium feel in the comfort layers and may actually be more suitable for you.  This mattress has a similar feel to our Artisan Bespoke 004.

All the Vi Spring mattresses and our Artisan Range of mattresses are normally paired with sprung divan bases but they can go onto any base.  If the base you choose is a solid or slatted base, this will firm the mattress up again.

We hope the above is of assistance to you, but please do not hesitate to contact the Office should you require further information on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards,

Amy.
