Question regarding weight and fitting of latex mattresses

A customer asked

I am looking to get a latex mattress for durability and because I sleep hot so memory foam is out of the question. I'm looking at getting the Dunlopillo Royal Sovereign as that seems to be a good fit for the majority of people without any particular sleep issues regarding firmness and I understand you have a similar product in the Fusion range.
I spoke to one of your helpful colleagues who mentioned however that I would not be able to use a slatted bedstead with your Fusion range. I have ordered a Warren Evans bedframe with slats, so what would you recommend in order to be able to fit a latex mattress, whether yours or Dunlopillo, on to my slatted base? I would have thought the slats would make the bed more mattress friendly, so would I have to cover the entire base with a sheet of wood? Would the weight of your mattress (70kg vs. 45kg for the Royal Sovereign) affect the durability of any bedstead?
Many thanks,
Varun

Hi Varun.

No doubt having spoken to my colleague you will be aware that any mattress, whether latex or otherwise, will compress through the gaps in the slatted base, which will create ridging over time. The placing of a barrier between the mattress and the base in the form of 3-5mm MDF will provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit and prevent such ridging occurring.

The application of the boarding will make any mattress placed upon it feel slightly firmer and I would suggest that you view the Fusion3 on our site as this may well be the most appropriate product for you. Please note the reference to 70kg in respect of the Fusion range is not the weight but the density of the latex.

I trust that this is of assistance to you.

Kind regards
